Herschell Gordon Lewis' 1970 shocker The Wizard of Gore is about a magician/mentalist called Montag the Magnificent who hypnotises women before performing Grande Guignol style acts on stage, only to see them walk away unharmed. Later they turn up with the same injuries...

It was remade in 2007 with a more up to date cast.

Actually his character was a Doctor who also did magic, played clarinet, tap danced, solved murder mysteries which baffled the rest of humanity - and also provided employment for most of his children :D ! (OK, I know, I watch too much daytime TV..... :( )

How about the most obvious TV show - Bill Bixby as Tony Blake 'The Magician' - some good stuff in there and Bill became a very proficient magician as a result of the rehearsals and practice he put in to make the magic as professional as possible. Plenty of info and YT clips on line, try http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Magician_(TV_series" target="_blank) for basic details.

There used to be a childrens show called Mr Merlin. The real Merlin owned a magic shop, and posed as a magician.

i think it's safe to add that just about every film Ricky Jay has been in, contains magic of some sort, although it might not be obvious to the viewer.Congo for example, has a tiny bit of magic in it, where the Gorrila apparently drinks a martini. If you deconstruct that scene, you will notice a couple of magical principles in play.
He also provided some supurb magic in teh movie Mystery Men.. although you wont bnotice it.
When ever the blue rajah produces, and throws his cutlery, its done using various magical techniques. at one point hes back palming forks. Blink and you will miss it!

Its worth adding another list here, in that many pop videos have used magic over the years. and these are all on youtube.
Sade's smooth operator for example, has some lovely card work. Most of Paloma faith's videos have a bit of magic in them.Mainly because she used to be Scott Penrose's assistant. Indeed he played a run down magician in you want the truth.or something beautifull?.

penn & teller, appeared in a beasty boys video.
if you watch the video for The Shamens Ebeneezer goode, you will spot that the main man is... Jerry Sadowitz.

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....
Greg Wilson about.... Me.
