If you're in Scotland you could combine it with a magic twist and be "Abra-dean"

I didn't get the prestige reference either I'm afraid... ho hum!

Dean-genie
Wandeany (or wandeani or wandeano, either way to combine Wand and Dean)
Or if you want a Dean of, go for a card suit, so that you can pull a gaff card which is, for example, the Dean of Diamonds, with your picture in the place of a face card.

They're my suggestions.

Agreed. Game set and Match I believe. Good one Stacy. If he doesn't take it I may have to change my name to fit it. Although with me it may sound like a cheesy 80's porn nickname......

Out of curiosity, why would you call yourself Alfred if it is not your real name? Hiding your identity almost makes it feel like you are embarrassed to be into magic. I could be wrong, but it seems strange to me.

Its a forum. How many on here actually use real names?

Mandrake? 4thcircle? Ladyofmystery? Lordfreddie? VEDAY? Bananafish? Lenoir? MrZombie? etc

I'm guessing that 70%+ of names on here aren't peoples real names

Nothing to do with being embarrassed

One of my favourite films, a film about magic and a nice handle on here

Not that big a deal surely?

Are you watching closely? Then I'll begin...

Lord Freddie IS my real name. Well, it's Freddie Valentine. I bought a cheap peerage off Tony Blair when he was in power.

How about:

Alfred The Great
Uncle Ernie
Borden On The Extreme
Alfred Yourmind

Tony is my real name. I wouldn't dream of not using my name. I do think it is a big deal; I like to know who I am talking to. I didn't know Alfred Borden was a character in a film. How would I know?

One thing that irritates me is when people pick famous magicians and use them as their name. What gives them the right to take some else's identity?

I realise I am probably alone in this, but that is how I feel about it.

Interesting you have such strong feelings about it

I honestly thought that most people on a magic forum would have seen the Prestige (see it if you haven't. It really is different gravy!)

I'm not REALLY taking someone's identity BECAUSE, its a fictional character that Christian Bale played whilst on a set

The novel is well worth a read too :D

Dean, I have seen the movie (rare for me, because I don't watch movies) and I have read the book (which was better, in my view, though the movie was good). But life is too short to remember the names of characters in movies.

It may make me out of step with others here, but I tend to be far more likely to respond to posts from people whom I believe are using their real names. I often ignore the other posts. I responded to your post because I assumed you were really a guy called Alfred looking for advice on names. I have no useful advice on Dean, but if anything strikes me I will add it to the contributions here.
