This is my First attempt at a review so if it is S@#T I Apologise now.
I first saw Dream Weaver being performed on SKY TVs “Secret world of Magic”.
COST: £11.99 ALL Necesary Safety pins and 22 page booklet with photographs.
EFFECT:
DREAM WEAVER is a 9 Phase linking / unlinking safety pin routine that uses ingenious methods for said processes.
An outline of the routine is as follows.
1. Two linked pins are taken from performers pocket and displayed to the audience one of the pins is then opened and the other pin slid off onto the hand of the performer. The pin is then closed. With one pin in each hand they are rubbed together until they link.
2. Using a similar rubbing motion the pins then unlink.
3. One pin is then placed on top of the other pin and with a sawing action they link
4. The pins are then again unlinked as though they just come apart (one is pulled through the other)
5. One of the pins is then rested on the other pin and seemingly falls into it linking as it drops
6. A 3rd pin is then taken from the pocket of the performer and placed into spectators hand (or performers other hand). A loose fist is then made around the 3rd pin and the two linked pins dangled into the fist pulling out the 3rd pin that has now joined to the other 2.
7. The 3rd pin is now pulled off of the other 2 in full view of the audience and placed back to the pocket.
8. In a similar manner one of the 2 remaining linked pins is pulled off just like the third pin (step7) only to be THROWN back on to the other pin reconnecting it.
9. The 2 pins are then unlinked as though the performer can just pull them apart. This is the end of the routine and the pins CAN be given out to the audience to inspect.
Difficulty: I'd give it a 2 there is a little bit of Sleight of Hand.
OVERALL:
This is simple to perform and worth every penny my only problem is other people can buy it and find out how it is done.
It is a VERY POWERFUL and VISUAL piece of close up magic and can be done virtually surrounded.
I never thought of doing a linking pin routine before buying this as a lot of my performances are done in pubs and mostly consist of card tricks, coins etc, but the pins can just be carried around in your wallet taking up no room so it makes for interesting patter when you pull them out.
Phase 6 of the routine does however take some practice to get right not that the moves are difficult just in the way it links (Can’t describe or it’ll give away the secret) and having a spectator hold it is a bit dangerous.
Do it on yourself and you will feel what I mean when it links.
