The Gecko/Gecko Extreme

Postby morrowsean » Nov 21st, '11, 21:22

Hi All,

Im thinking of treating myself to the Gecko & Gecko Extreme. Some of the effects ive seen look really good, im guessing its somewhat simular to the Raven but not so much a one trick pony?

Can anyone offer their advice on wether it is a good as it seems, or is this going to be another waste of money that will sit in my cupboard unused?

Im looking for something practical, Can be used in Extreme close up situations and is 100% reliable. Ive read the new Gecko Extreme makes the setup for the original alot easier, and can produce and vanish alot more items.

Thanks!!

Sean

Honestly don't bother. It really isn't up to much in the real world. Invest in a toppit and put in a load of practice and you'll have a lot more fun with a lot less limitations.

A toppit is an accessory to a suit jacket or casual blazer. It requires no pulls or sticky stuff, no refills and you determine the angles yourself. PM with any questions to open for the forum and I'll be happy to advise.

Certain clothing? Just like the Gecko, you mean?

Things like Blackout! are good fun but really, I think for what you get, I'd rather just learn a method without needing to wear a black shirt etc.

Take a look at TKO by Jeff Kalor..it's essentially a Toppit but without the need for a jacket. Interesting concept, has some great uses. You will need to be wearing a shirt and not a t shirt though

Bear in mind that Toppits can be installed with safety pins, they don't have to be fitted professionally - unless you have plenty of money and can afford the work being done!

Tko would be the way to go for just a shirt it's a very good bit of kit, Ive seen it demmed by Jeff himself during a lecture. I have David Penns Toppit which I got in a bargain deal from WMS a couple of christmas ago and like Mandrake said it can be adapted to go in and out various jackets. I also have a Gecko and if you want my honest opinion it is pure and utter rubbish it's unpractical and unreliable and difficult to use at the best of times and you are limited to handling different equipment at the same time in my opinion the raven would be the better option if your after that sort of thing.

So glad I'm on TM now

i've probably saved lots of money

Raven
Raven X2
Gecko
Gecko Extreme
The Bat
The Tarantula
M5
The Hawk 2.0
TKO
Any Card to Specs Wallet
Black Widow

I appreciate that some of these are not really comparable in capability / design etc

they are all gimmicks I have been interested in at some point (mainly due to all the hype) and have stopped myself from buying

are there any from that list that anyone can actually recommend? (I know Any Card to Specs Wallet is quite highly recommended)

I want a new Toy to play with

Any Card to Specs Wallet, or at least the utility device that comes with it is well worth it if you are interested in card magic. TKO is also very good although I wouldn't buy both...
