Perception Without Awareness

Postby jakubr » Nov 22nd, '11, 07:31

Hello!

Here's another little bit from me, I tried to do some tricks with the premise of Unconscious Perception,
this subject interest me a lot, and I think it can be interesting when used within the trick. :)

excellent video, thanks for posting.

I love the Derren Brown touch of drawing a card in the air then writing the card details in the air with your hands/fingers.

I'm currently reading several very technical papers on the subject (though, I'm not sure I'll be able to extract anything useful), so I really liked it a lot, thanks for sharing. I have a question: how do you practise this? I mean: do you speak to the mirror, record yourself, just repeat over and over in a empty room...

Thank you! Actually Derren wasn't the first one to use it. Before he made it popular, I saw Docc Hilford using similar things. It's a very nice, clever idea :)

The best way to practice is actually trying it on real people. So what you can do is, take an ID, and try to force certain card. If it doesn't work, you have an out.
Once you reach some good effectiveness, you can try different things, like giving them the card, and making them guess it, etc. Good luck :)

Well I see, but you don't prepare at all? You should come up with practicing a bit of fast speech and make the gestures more natural, don't you? Anyway, I still I have a long road to go before I attempt this, but you have given me some thinking material.
