Dreamflight 2011 (post approved by Mandrake)

Postby BrucUK » Apr 29th, '11, 11:41

This is a repeat of a post over on the Bunny Hutch, (have already checked it's OK with Mandrake). It was coincidence that this appears on virtually my "joining" day - I have all intentions to post here too.

Dreamflight 2011 is coming, and as usual I will be there, with anyone else that wants to come along. For anyone that does not know, the charity takes seriously ill children to Orlando on a "Once in a Lifetime" trip. For some, it can be the last trip they take.

This year is the 25th anniversary of the trip and so is extra extra special - the theme is "Circus" with all the associated fun, magic, and breathtaking entertainment...

If you think you can help and/or if you know anyone else that would love to help us ... magic or "circus skills" wise, that would be awesome!
This year the ball is on Sat 26th November and we have a new venue, the prestigious brand new Hilton Hotel at Terminal 5 Heathrow.

Perhaps you have never worked a big event, and just want some experience? I know most "workers" will be out working, but I would still love to get a party of around 10 if I can. There are no fees I am afraid, however, if you want to, and can come along with magic/bunco and/or circus skills, that would be excellent.

I know a lot of people on The Bunny have problems with "freebies", I don't, but if anyone wants a discussion I'm sure we can have it on another thread.

No more details at the moment, but they usually feed and water us very well. Tend to meet aroud 5 for a briefing, then start at 6 for cocktail event, ending around 2030/2100 after working tables between courses.

Anyway, that's it. Please let me know via this thread if you would be interested.

Thanks
Bruce

It makes a welcome change to see a genuine reason for performers offering their services free of charge, and for such a worthy cause. If anyone has the skills and lives close enough, please do all you can to be there. We'd really love to hear all about the event in due course.

I performed on one of these in the past and it's great fun for a great cause. Plus Bruce is a great chap too. It's well worth your time.

Thanks for the support Mandrake.
Deadsweet - if you wanted to get your self 3/4 tablehopping style tricks, and just perform those 4 on tables, you would be fine.
It is a while yet, so if you want a "target" to head for, perhaps this could be it.
Let me know.

I did some work for Dreamflight a good few years back when I worked for BA.

If I'm free on the 25th November then I'll happily come along and will let you know closer to the time if that's OK?

Dat8962 - that would be great, many thanks.
I will occasionally "bump" this thread if that is permitted between now and then.

New month - quick "bump" :D
Still looking for volunteers for this one - any skill level, (so long as it is magical), or perhaps you want to have a go at a performance for the first time?
I've had a couple of PMs which I will ger back to very soon.
Let me know.
Thanks

All,
For a variety of unforeseen reasons, I will be unable to be at the event this year.
If anyone would like to support Kelly Keating and the team, please contact her on 07766 143693, or email at kelskeating@hotmail.com.
It's always a blast - sorry I cannot be there.

If any TM'ers are doing this, then I may see you there. I will be performing but not in a magic capacity.

I would have loved to have helped out at this. Unfortunately it clashes with my son's birthday so I can't make it.

Hope everyone who can help makes a great night of it. :)
