Thread!

Postby MagicBill » Nov 30th, '11, 10:54

I use IT primarily for the Hummer Card and I was wondering which IT you guys found to be the best? Which is the strongest? Which is the most invisible? I received some Spider Web ‘Tough’ IT this morning and although it seems strong I am not sure if it’s as ‘invisible’ as my previous thread. Thanks for your thoughts/feedback...

I very rarely use IT

but when I do I don't use special magicians IT

I was advised by someone, can't remember who maybe Brad Christian (urgh) to use black nylon thread instead (thinnest you can find) the same stuff a seamstress would use

I think it may be stronger

Lets put it this way.....

6" thick rope will be invisible, under the correct lighting conditions.:)

you need to use the correct thread for the effects that your trying to achieve. Bracco's book on the subject has a graph, with weights , and thickness of threads laid out.

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

And when you find the thinnest of the above, you still have the wonderful chore of seperating it into yet thinner strands. Yes it seperates down. For a long time this was the only way to get IT. And this thread is not particularly strong, but depending on what you are doing it doesn't need to be strong. I've used it for years.

However times have changed. Oh how the times have changed. Now you can get it already stripped down. You can get elastic IT. I personally kevlar thread. As Dale said different threads react to different situations. The best thing to do is experiment.

I used to use thread from womens' stockings which is quite strong, and virtually invisible, but is difficult to handle. I now buy elastic IT which stretches to about five times its original length and can be used for a whole range of effects from telekinesis to levitation and more.
TIP: always choose a darker shade for your shirts or a shirt with stripes in the direction of the IT
