How do you get out of those moments where people ask you to repeat a trick you've just done? I'm not too spontaneous of a person so I can't think of another trick to do that easily usually.

Should I set out a proper routine of full tricks to perform to people?

Thanks.

i tried the routine idea and it included my best tricks, so i ended up getting the question all the time. I have two ideas atm, you could say, wait till I've finished untill your questions, in which case you'll just amaze them with a better trick. Secondly, you could say, how about I'll show you? So you just do a long, made up, stupid and amazingly hard to do explanation of the trick, including as many long words as you can, but no magician moves.

A nice way, would be if you tend to have typical tricks that they ask you to do again, have another version of it, with a twist at the ending, adding some extraordinary to the tricks. Works every time :)

I take the previous trick, highlight an area of it or discuss an aspect of their reaction and then take that as a lead into another trick. If I don't have a nother thrick, I develop this into a conversation, pop off to the loo in the middle (to reest trick) and then if all else fail, do it again, with (if possible) diffferent ending or emphasis/misdirection).

Try to avoid repeating it though, for this lends itself to the greatest potential for discovery or inadvertent disclosure.

Hope this helps,

Vic

You don't need to be spontaneous, but it helps if you look it. So I suggest a bit more planning and prepare a mini routine. It's much better to do another trick than repeat one just done unless you really have a good twist that wasn't done the first time.

how about simply stating the magicians rules and them applying them...for instance when a spec asks to repeat a trick ill talk about the magicians rules and the fact that we arent allowed to repeat tricks because we'll be whicked away be a lil green munchkin...that way the next time they ask to do a trick again, ill simply ask them "how many times did i perform this marvelous effect for you"...they'll say 1 and then immediately shut up because they understand im not gonna do it again....works like a charm....leaves the specs a bit bummed though...

Well, maybe just say, "do you perform two times in a row with your girly?", and smile, and say magic is just like sex.... :)

I just smile and say "I'll take that as a compliment" and move onto another trick or person.

Mandrake don't worry - it's perfectly normal for a guy of your, ahem, age.
