Hi Mandrake. Thanks for your response.

Meetings are held on the second & fourth Tuesday of each month 7.00 pm - 9.00 pm at Davenports Magic Studio, 7 Charing Cross Underground Arcade, The Strand, London. WC2N 4HZ.

The LSM Club is a great place for professional or amateur magicians to get critique on their performances. It's the type of environment where you can afford to make mistakes and learn from them without being laughed at or risk exposing your tricks to non-magicians.

I particularly like the different themed nights because it encourages me to learn new effects. For instance, when we had a 'no cards allowed' night I performed Hopping Halves, Miracle Ring and Crazy Man's Handcuffs. Simple tricks but because I used to be mainly a card worker I quite enjoyed branching out and learning new effects. I have a busy work life so I find its good to have a little encouragement to keep learning new effects.

The LSM also has Professional Lecturers. This year we had Paul Gordon, David Ginn and Richard Pinner. The lectures are good because you get to see other magicians perform their effects and then they explain to you how they were all performed. They also often sell DVDs or merchandise at better rates than in the shops. This year I bought 2 of Paul Gordon's DVDs and I have since learned loads of cool card tricks from them.

Hi V.E. Day

Thank you for the good question.

The LSM welcomes any magician from beginners to professionals over the age of 16, Male and Female.

We encourage any magician to visit a club night to help your decision to join the Club without requiring an audition. If anyone would like to become a member, we do ask that they perform a small audition. Although this is not aimed at you V.E. Day but I have found that the beginner can be put off by an audition but I just want to make the point that the audition can include any effects you want so it can be as simple as Dynamic Coins or the ID. On most occasions all members will be performing effects and we welcome new audtions to be incorporated into the theme of the meeting. Its also great to see more advanced magicians blow us away the first time they perform at the club!

The 10th January 2012 would be a good date to start because it will be the first event of the 2012 Calendar. Hope to see you there!
