Suggestions on what magic-related stuff to get for Christmas

Postby cc100 » Dec 6th, '11, 19:24

Hello,

I'm sure you are all being asked by people about what you would like Santa to bring you for Christmas, and I'm trying to decide what I should ask for as a magic related gift. I'm at the stage at the minute of just working my way through RRTCM, and I also have Expert Card Technique which I am hoping to start afterwards. So my question is, could anyone recommend something which is suitable for my ability level? I was thinking of Mark Wilsons's Complete Course in Magic, but as I'm just concentrating on card magic for the time being, I was wondering if it would contain anything that isn't in RRTCM or ECT. I was maybe thinking of an Alex Elmsley DVD as I really like the elegance of his card magic. I also have The Devil's Picturebook in case anyone was going to suggest that, though that is a bit beyond my skill level.

Anyway, any suggestions would be much appreciated. I don't want to spend loads of money, so it would probably just be a single book or DVD.

Thanks,

cc100

Expert at the card table should go down well with those books you already have.

Might be worth looking at Darwin Ortiz too, Gambling scams and Scams and fantasies with cards are both great books if your into card magic.

If you can get hold of a copy, I'd highly recommend 'Counts Cuts Moves & Subtlety' by Jerry Mentzer - ftopic20966.php" target="_blank

Also, don't hesitate to grab a copy of the legendary 'Secrets of Alkazar' - ftopic19847.php" target="_blank

I'll second this, it's a very under rated book and belongs in any cardys library.

Lee's suggestion of Expert At The Card Table is a another great one and I'd personally add Card Control by Arthur Buckley. Both off which are available cheap on thebookdepository.co.uk

I'd give this a thumbs up too. Both books are interesting and full of great infomation on sleights. I'd definatly recommend Card Control as it's so cheap. I've seen them going as cheap as £6 or £7 and even including postage no more than £10 is you look about. For that price they're a bargin. If I was to add a book I'd say Steranko on cards. I'm not sure if you'll be ok for it just yet but it's a great book and should definatly be in any card workers library at some point.

Does anyone know where to get 'Counts Cuts Moves & Subtlety' by Jerry Mentzer anywhere in the UK?
I could probably order it in from abroad, but would rather get it in the UK. It just looks a pretty nice little book.

It is rare for another person to choose something appertaining to Magic for another magician.

All magicians have such fixed ideas on what they want etc. Often inflexible wants.

And what suits one rarely suits another unless perhaps & possibly--you request a certain aspect of Magic.
Even then it may not work for you.

WHY not get them to get you a Gift Token-- several dealers put them out

Then you can think, ponder, consider and choose what YOU want.
