The Effect.
You hand out a deck of cards to be shuffled as you comment that you are going to try and find a chosen card from the deck without even touching them.

If you succeed then you expect the audience to go wild. In fact it wouldn’t be a surprise if they all climb up on the table and whoop and holler your praises for all to hear. Of course if you fail then perhaps a more circumspect charity “clap” would be in order.

The cards are shuffled and cut by the spectator. They peak the card they cut to then shuffle them again. Finally the cards are spread across the table by the spectator.

Initially you have trouble finding their card, so you ask them to grip your wrist and you enter into a spot of friendly Hellstronism (that’s Muscle reading don’t cha know).

This time you manage to immediately find their card to much applause.

And as if that isn’t enough, when the spectator releases your wrist he will notice that your Livestrong charity band is now stamped with the very card they selected…

Difficulty. 2/5
1=Even I can do it, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

This is not difficult at all. It involves a couple of techniques that when put together build for a very nice effect.

Review.
Well this being another effect from the Liam Montier stable of magic, I was pretty confident it was going to be a strong piece of magic and I wasn’t disappointed.

I was going to say that it is a “Magicians Insurance Policy” style of trick, but then felt that wouldn’t really do it justice. Not that I have anything against the MIP, but you see as far as I am concerned it isn’t just a great revelation. It is also a very strong card trick, that if you so desired would play really well as a great piece of serious (or if you prefer, not so serious) mentalism.

Rating. Effect/item: 8/10, Quality of goods: 10/10, Value for money: 8/10

Bottom Line.
I really do love the effect and having used it for a while now I find I am getting some great reactions with the Livestrong band. As with all Liam’s material though, you don’t just get an effect and method, you also get to read his thought processes, and several ideas for alternative handlings.

Well done Liam Montier!
