We use to use pendulums with some hypnosis subjects. As it reinforced the idea that we had real control over them if their mind was fighting against hypnosis. I used a small galvanised nail called Harry to show I could effect the movement of the pendulum in their hands. It's also a good way of rapidly inducing hypnosis as their mind has already started to comply.

Of course.

Ideomotor response comes from the unconcious mind, the same place that hold your memories , your imagination and your deeper thinking.

For that some people like to answer their own "unknown" answers with pendulums because basically that helps to connect better with his profound thoughts.
