Journey in to hypnosis by Richard Osterlind.

Postby daxi » Jan 5th, '12, 20:34

Does anyone know where in the UK that I can get a copy of Richards Osterlinds CD, Journey in to hypnosis? I am seriously thinking that past life regression, astral projection, psychic development path etc is worth at the very least trying. I have never used any music or anything when using hypnosis in the past, but if it will help add to the theatrics & if I can suggest that copyright issues stop the most of the session from being recorded. Then my subjects can't go & do it themselves using recordings I have made.

Although Richard does a bit of hypnosis, he is not the authority on the field to go to if this is the direction you are moving. I would suggest checking out some of the books by Richard Webster on past life regression. Also Paul Voodini's Midnight Side of the Mind deals very specifically with this topic.

Thanks Tony.. I have several of Richard Websters books already & thats why I am thinking of the above CD. Which is simply some music & other sounds used during induction. It probably does nothing but adds to the theatricality & thus the event it's self. But it would also give me a legitimate excuse to avoid recording the induction & deepening. It was having read that Richard uses this & also about how he avoids giving a full recording of the session, that I realised it would suit what I wanted too.

Oddly enough a great part of the opening of my hypnosis show comes from Osterlind. The poor man is probably going to feel quite ill now that I am endorsing him. The fact of the matter is that years and years ago he put out a weird music kind of thing for hypnosis on audio tape. This new CD may possibly be the same thing. I use it at every show. But along with the cassette he also included a few typewritten pages explaining how he opened his show. I got great use out of it and in fact use the induction he suggested.

I am more of a magician than a mentalist nowadays but if I were still pursuing mentalism I would probably purchase everything that had Osterlind's name on. I think quite highly of the stuff he has put out.

Oddly enough one of the main things I learned from him was not mentalism at all but magic. I do his torn and restored newspaper at every show.

Some of Richard's products are only available from him, I think. You might get the occasional copy turning up in the UK second hand, but don't forget it's actually called Journey into Hypnotism when searching.

I agree with Mark - Richard's produced some amazing ideas (although I haven't bought his most recent DVD yet, due to a slight concern that there's a lot of reheated material). The best things he's produced, in my opinion, are his various books. Even if you never use any of the tricks, he has some truly interesting thoughts about performing.
