Tarantula help

Postby Ophidian » Jan 7th, '12, 22:56

Hi there, I'm really new to forums, but have been doing magic for about 2 years now (probably extremely rookie complared to a lot of people.) Recently I bought Mesika's Tarantula and I have a few issues with it that I thought the clever people who know what they're talking about on Talk Magic might have some solutions for.

My first problem with it is that I find the thread knots very easily on the spool meaning I have to waste a lot of time and thread untangling it, so any advice on that front would be great, but frankly, I'm not holding out much hope.

My other issue is about the Haunted Pack trick, without saying too much about method (although I imagine it's fairly easy to work out if you think about it :P ) the cards just don't seem to move and and all that happens is the thread snaps, when I pull and try to move the cards." The explanation on the DVD seems a bit ropey to me, so any advice would be highly appreciated.

Thanks a lot to a anybody that can help. :)

I have been using the Tuarantula for some time now and really have not encountered what you are going through. For the first part are you keep the thread taught? Really helps to have tension on the tread especially when pulling it back in.

As for the haunted deck, Not my favourite use for the gimmick McBrides Kundalini rising is my favourite, in any case. Are the cards really old and rough? or are they newish, Newish is going to work better. I forget what the instructions say, but chances are they are your best bet. You said they seem ropey, but have you tried it?

Thread is always going to be a pain in the rear. The choices are two fold. Stay away from thread, or prepare to spend a lot of time experimenting and changing techniques until you find one you like.

Hey bro

Tangle:

Had the same prob at first with the thread. Must say tho if you watch the DVD again you'll pic up that when spinning the ring to prevent the thread from winding up to much causing the tangle. you need to spin the ring clockwise and anticlockwise when performing the levitation. One time clockwise the next time anticlockwise.

Don't ever spin the ring the same direction all the time this is what causes the tangle.

Haunted deck:

I find that i prefer the loops for haunted deck, This allows you to do it in someones hands as apposed to on the floor.

Hope this helps bro.
