Depends on a lot of things. I saw Jerry Sadowitz get punched in the face during his act at Montreal's Just for Laughs Festival. He didn't really understand the sensitivity of the politics of the area.

a) I don't think I can recall Penn taking the * out of spectators. He is a rude jerk, but not on stage so much

b) Most comedy clubs I have been to over the last few years certainly don't have comedians that mock their audience. More often than not it is Woody Allen style self deprecation
