Converting to PDF

Postby hds02115 » Jan 12th, '12, 20:29

I'm in need of a computer wizz to help me out with a little issue I'm having.

Normally I use microsoft word which is easy to convert to a pdf file however recently I've been using a borrowed laptop which doesn't have word, it has microsoft works instead which is fine up until it comes to converting it to a pdf. I usually use an online converter to do the convertion but I'm having a hard time finding one which converts a works document.

If anyone knows how I can overcome this issue it would be great.

Thank you.

Nitro PDF. You can create PDFs from any program that can print.

I'll happily convert it for you if you have trouble with any recommended converters.

CutePDF installs as a printer. After that, you can "print" to pdf...

CutePDF is good too. Works the same as Nitro.

Thanks for the input. I'm mainly looking for maybe an online converter though as at the moment I'm having to borrow this laptop I'm using. I don't really want to go downloading random programs onto a friends computer. I've used an online program before which like I said has worked well but it does not convert wps. works documents. If anyone knows of anything like this that would be awesome.

Vanderbelt, as for your offer, thank you but it's kind of a private document so I'd rather if I can help it convert it myself.

Use Zamzar.com to convert it to PDF (or lots of other useful formats if needed). You upload it and then it emails you the converted file.

If you want to keep it private, maybe a random online program is not the best idea either. I wonder if you can do the same with google documents...

I use open office for all my books as it has a pdf convertor built in. It works perfectly as i upload the file to Lulu.

OpenOffice works almost exactly like Microshite Word but has the PDF conversion option built into it for free. Most wordprocessing packages you can open up in OpenOffice. I find it a very useful tool. It is free from http://www.OpenOffice.Org

Just download load and install and then open the MSWorks document in OpenOffice, then save to PDF.

I've moved from OpenOffice to LibreOffice which is basically the same but it seems to have more ongoing support and one or two other advantages.

Thanks for all the help. I will be taking a look at the alternative to microsoft office when I get back onto my computer but for now that Zamzar has worked just fine. As for the pricicy issue, it's nothing dangerous like bank infomation or anything so I'm sure it'll be fine.

Thanks again though for the help.
