Would that apply to calls from abroad? Most of the scam calls I get seem to originate overseas.

I just had two phone calls, virtually the same, and the caller said his name was John (sorry, but the strong Asian accent made that rather unlikely) and he was from Something or other claims management, according to their records, someone at my phone number had recently had an accident and he thought they could help. Rather stupidly he kept asking for confirmation of various points so I decided to string him along and asked what kind of accident (he didn’t know) what details they had about the accident (he didn’t have any) and if he didn’t have that information how did they know there had been an accident (he couldn’t answer that. I then asked what kind if accident ( he didn’t know) but suggested a car accident, I told him we didn’t have any cars and, after shouting some rather unprofessional words, he rang off.

15 minutes later the second call was received so, as soon as they referred to an accident I went all camp hysterical, ‘Oh my God, what happened, who’ s been injured, are they hurt, are they dead, which hospital are they in, how did it happen, have the Police been informed etc. At that point they rang off which was good because I’d run out of OTT hysteria!
