water to wine

Does anybody know how many versions of the trick water to wine" there are? Is there a trick that turns water to wine, and then back to water again?

Why would anyone want to turn into water?

I remember Paul Daniels performing a couple of tricks involving drinks changing 'on command' but they were probably slightly different to what is being asked here.

Water Into Wine

Postby Allen Tipton » Jun 10th, '07, 14:57

:) I first purchased it from The Boy's Magic Service, Rhyl, in 1945/46. At one Sports Club dinner it turned to milk..heaven knows how.

There was a lot of correspondence about Chris Van Bern's version, some years back I think in the Magigram when George Blake detailed his ideas & version.

Check out 'The Wine, the Water and a Character', pages 71 to 74 in McCombs Magic, 25 Years Wiser. That will give you all the details for performance.
Out of historical interest. Check page 377 in Professor Hoffman's Modern Magic and also pages 37 to 384 for Improved Wine AND Water Tricks.

PS. You cannot drink it. Stick to the local wine shop for your parties!!

Have a look here:

I used to have some of this stuff in a chemistry set, and the wine/water trick was one of the experiments. It was a long time ago.........

Funny you should mention that M!
Those of you who have been on here a long time may remember me celebrating when I had finally managed to collect a complete collection of said magazine (see here: sutra212768.php ). It seems like the time has come to sell them now (so the wife thinks anyway!) so if anyone was interested in making an offer on a very rare complete set of Magigram (Vol 1 No 1 - Vol 27 No 6) PM me for more details...

'Barry & Stuarts: Show and Tell' boasts a Water to wine. It's very straight forward but unfortunately, you couldn't change it back again. It is drinkable after and it definitely tastes like wine.

Isn't there an actual area of magic devoted to biblical magic? I would think this would be a little bit counter productive for their faith mimmicking Jesus's "miracals", but still I remember seeing something like that.

Luke Jermay also does a routine that mimics stigmata.....
