Recent performance-feedback needed

Postby spooneythegoon » Jan 16th, '12, 20:06

Hi.

On Christmas day I did a small magic performace for family and friends, and I really need some feedback to improve my future performances. Yes, it was on Christmas day, so it's probably a little late to post this, but I only just got around to it  .

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVuyz8AWNX4
Just a few things to note:
The video is unlisted so laypeople cannot view it (only people with this link can view).
I was fairly nervous which is why the trumpet playing was so awful! (although some mistakes were for effect).
If you can't see some of what is going on, blame my cameraman for being too slow!

Thanks! :D

It might be my computer but at 2.59 the picture freezes but the sound carries on with some movement at the very top and bottom of the screen. From what I saw your audience were enjoying themseves, being pleasantly suspicious at every opportunity as families tend to be, but obviously appreciating your set. Your patter was good and very appropriate for a family event. (Sadly my Christmas effort wasn't filmed so I can't inflict it on anyone!)

At 3.:27 it then changes to another frozen picture, with the same top and bottom movements. Shame, I was enjoying the video :D

It freezes at 7.36 but there was enough to show that everyone had fun. You only have to listen to the laughs and the comments from the audience to see they were all involved, all enjoying the act and having a great time. And..... I might just nick the change bag idea for my act this Christmas, thank you!

Thanks for the feedback!

The video seems to work fine on my computer-maybe the page needed reloading or something?

Very nice, mate.

Good patter with the audience (if you can treat all audiences like family you'll be fine) and a few nice tricks.

I did a family Christmas magic show and it was great fun.. I'm sure you had a blast too. :)

Didn't freeze for me this time either. Enjoyed the show very much!
I haven't got a change bag, but that has made me think of getting one.

Nice performance.
Producing sweets for an opener. Hmmm. you got me thinking.
For young couples I could produce some 'love heart' sweets and then 'predict' which message they pick.

Nice performance spooney! Your patter seemed to flow really well and it sounded like your family enjoyed it all. :)
