Guys - if you are going to do a telepathic review - please could you keep to the standard telepathic review format! (how many times do I have to think that!!)

Invisible Review?

Postby The Last Deck on the Left » Jun 28th, '05, 16:35

I just spotted this over at Alakazam, so naturally I headed over to TM for a review.

Any chance that one of you guys who bought this could do us a brief review?

Thanks!

:D

I haven't bought this but watching the vid I am pretty sure I know the principle of the method - past-posting it is sometimes known as (hope that is not TOO revealing).

Regarding Kati's point, a lot of spectator's are aware that cards can be forced even if they don't know how. If someone merely thinks of a card they assume it cannot be forced. Hence the power of this effect.

I don't know the psychological force you mention - wish I did - but clearly that could be a very powerful component of this trick. But since it is apparently not 100% you don't need to simply dismiss as an experiment and try a different FORCE - you could follow up with the method used in the demo. IE if your psych force works you have the correct prediction without touching the bottle; otherwise you have to touch the bottle but you still get the prediction right.

Gilligan's Prediction.

Postby Allen Tipton » Dec 6th, '05, 19:11

:) I found it most intriguing. The small glass bottle looked great with the slip of,paper in it. Real but mysterious. Variations i worked out were:
1. Have 6 or 7 ESP signs on a large piece cardboard. They chose one. It matches Gilligan.
2. Have 6 or 7 lots of Lottery numbers ie 2..23..45..7..12. 18. then 4. 15..27..33..44. 13. etc. These too are printed on a board. One is freely chosen. It matches Gilligan's lucky lottery numbers on the prediction BUT he's forgoten to put when they will come up.
3. For Fun. Have again 6 or 7 Silly Forfeits on a board. One is chosen. You have to do it(or a child if it's a kid's show) if it matches Gilligan.
4.

This for those who have the secret cuts down the number of choices.

Gilligans Prediction

Postby Allen Tipton » Dec 6th, '05, 19:30

:) No 4. Have various silly adverts on a board. One chosen. It matches OR have the names of 6 or 7 horses Or Titles for Jokes. as The Milk Joke. One chosen. Someone reads out the joke which is naturally headed with its chosen titlel
These 4 suggestions may may you think further than 1 to 52 playing cards.

Hi

I have used the trick for children once but I told them it was washed up on the shore of our local beach and it can tell the future and then I have a chat to them about the mysterious bottle and have one of the children choose a coloured sweetie and when the bottle is open it says that john will eat a yellow sweet and will be covered in confetti. Que sprinkling the child in confetti

They like the trick but I think it works better on adults as the kids would be just as happy if I just put confetti on the chosen child.

Dean

P.S

I will pop a review of the trick up on Saturday

I have bought it, and I can say it's too troublesome, many sleights, many set-up, If you are looking forward to buy it , don't, because if you use an ID, or just put a paper in a bottle and just force a card it will be the same to your spectators, remember you are not doing magic for magicians, you are doing magic for sectators, and if a spectator look someone thought a card, and someone picks a card, who cares? the spectator doesn't know

Bye Bye :D

Ahh review. well here it is:

Its a clever method, and the gimmicks are well done, although it can be very dangerous cuz exist a scary possibility that it doesn't work, the video dosen't explain very well , in fact it only explains the basic, it doesn't explain any routine or idea, the instructions way too complicated and very bad done. It uses some sleights and it can't be performed surrounded and it's not an impromptu method or something you are just carrying around, and also it's not an insta reset. if you lose the papers there are no others, you have to do them yourself .

Overall 4/10

conclusion: just take a bottle, put a piece of paper with a card written, and then force it, its the same for the spectators

bye

Hi,

the idea of having the spac select the card in their mind is the strength of the routine. You need to make sure there is not the slightest possibilitiy of forcing the card involved.

As for the method: It works and once the basic preparation is done you only need about two minutes to prepare for the next perfomance. But as the setup consumes a lot of pocket space, I chose to resort to another effect that is similar to Gilligan.

However: if you do this for magicians who don't know the method, you will absolutely fry them. Try it!

Dear Jonny,

I like the trick but not worth £29.99 in my opinion. I'm selling the remains of my magic shop on ebay and I'm auctioning some of these off so you could pick them up for much less there. My username on ebay is the same as here so you can find me no problem.
