Walk right up to them, tell them your not selling anything but can you show them a trick. Then go straight into it without leaving them time to reply. Start with the most visual and immediately arresting effect. Do the other two if they like the first one.

Hope this helps.

Relax as much as you can before going in. Make sure the first few groups you approach look friendly so that you can ease yourself onto it. A bad group at the start of the night can make the night miserable. Carry an ID. If you lose a break or anything say "your card's lost in the deck, etc. Before I came out I made a prediction" and you've saved yourself!

If you are hired to perform there, I'd walk up and simply say something along the lines of "Hello, how is everybody doing today? Good? My name is (insert name here.) I have been hired to entertain you."

If it's walk around for a restaurant gig, then you can either walk up, introduce yourself and then say "Have you seen me perform before?" before saying that you're a magician/miracle worker and then just go from there.

Most of all...no matter how it goes (and I'm sure it'll be great, once you begin to relax, and enjoy yourself!), concentrate on the BUZZ you get, once you're home and unwinding; there's very few feelings like it (that I can talk about in public, anyhow  ), and it's exactly THIS which will help to motivate you to go further :D

Please DO let us all know how it goes - your story could very well be the motivation for the next new table-hopper here! We can't wait to hear how you get on, MM :)

Let me know, next time you're in the area, Sam, and we can maybe get together and have a chat and gig a bit :)

Find the manager's name. Then you can say, "Hi, I'm [your name]. {Manager's Name], the manager here, asked me to come and do some magic for you.". This makes it seem like the manager asked you PERSONALLY to do tricks for them, PERSONALLY. It makes them feel special.

Start with the most visual and immediately arresting effect.

I recommend The Human Blockhead.

Relax, make sure you dress smart and just be friendly.

I would have to disagree with V.E. Day though, I always give people the chance to say no, they don't want to see any magic. The reason is that you just don't know what's going on with them, they may have just come from the funeral of their Dad (yup, that's happened before) or might be discussing details of a devorce. Either way, there are times when magic would be the last thing that people might want to see so it's only polite to give them the option.

Most important tip though, just enjoy yourself :)
