female magicians

Postby tonys1079 » Feb 2nd, '12, 15:20

A few months ago now my wife made a comment that in the years I have watched magic i never noticed until she said and that was why you dont see female magicians. so i googled if there was any and then went on you tube and i found a few videos, some by suzanne that i think were filmed in the magic castle and she did a cups and balls routine that i was amazed by much in the same way as when i saw ricky jays routine. what made it more amazing was that she loaded at some point what apperaed to be many diamonds into one of the cups and the story she was telling was perfectly suited to how she used the cups. Another that i found was a woman called krysten lambert and again she was awesome her close up magic that i found although i do the same tricks her performance of them was really well planned, just watching her i got that she seemed like a stereo typical blonde california girl that the media feel the need to put into tv shows and while shes talking almost as if shes not paying attention then looks down and the trick is done. A perfect example of this is her version of the coin matrix, id like to see more female magicians on tv especially as the penn and teller fool us is open to any applicants.

Don't forget the incomparably wonderful Faye Presto, dripping in diamante, has a residency at Langhams.

lord freddy and tomo thanks for the recommendations i will be busy checking these out its nice to have such a wealth of information i love this site. also does anybody know if there are nagic clubs in lancashire when i first moved to blackpool i walked past a bar that was called the magic bar but sadly it had closed down and i cant find one on google and magic shops are even more sparse as the magic shop in blackpool on lytham road had also closed down.

It was a shame that Mark Mason closed JB magic but he moved to the states.

that seems as good a reason as any i use the online shops but it would be nice to walk in a shop and see what catches my eye up close rather than spend hours scrolling down internet pages. that im inpatient and if i order a trick i want to start working with it straight away although magic nevin managed to get my order to me with in a day and i put the order in after 9 at night so i was very happy.

If you really want to see thousands of magic tricks and effects 'in the flesh' and spend a fortune on them, just visit the Blackpool Magician's Club Convention from Feb 16th to 19th at The Winter Gardens. Hundreds of Dealers will be there ready and only too willing to exchange their miracles for your hard earned cash!
