I've been thinking of joining a magic club to try and progress my magic and gain more confidence performing. Are most other members here also club members or do you just go it alone.

I'm in Harlow, Essex and I know of 2 clubs, one is the Ilford magical society and the other is the Merlin Magical society in Potters Bar. Both are about 20 miles from me so worth a look as I've not been able to find anything closer.

I'm in a magic club, I only joined after about 8 years of doing magic, so I learnt most of the magic I do myself. I would say, just be sure of what you want out of the club. In terms of gaining confidence, it's no good being confident performing to other magicians, although that is a start. See if they hold events that the public can go too. For example at the club I go to, we have a close up competition soon, and it's open to friends and family too.

For me, it's just a place to socialise with friends, and see the occasional lecture. I don't get to wrapped up in learning the next big trick, because I already have routines that I know and perform, so there's no point in learning something new (and most of the time impractical) every single week.

i recently joined my local magic club and can highly reccomend it!! they are all really friendly, they have interesting lectures and soicals i cant see any downside to being with like minded people.

give it a go it cant hurt!
