The svengali deck in Russian!

Postby mark lewis » Feb 10th, '12, 04:36

I am actually of Russian ancestry. Three of my grandparents were Russian. And I remember I nearly went to Soviet Union to sell svengali decks. I had negotiations with the Russian Embassy in Dublin over it. It was one of my dafter ideas and my brother talked me out of it on the grounds that my grandfather deserted the Russian army by stealing an army horse and getting on a boat to New York and ending up in Scotland by mistake. It was felt that the Soviet government might send me to a gulag in Siberia as belated revenge so I decided not to bother after all.

But I just got a shock on You Tube. This is what it might have looked like:

The odd thing is that I don't remember this being filmed. I certainly never got any money for it.

I see that we have various people showing off here including Mandrake. I haven't the slightest idea what anyone is talking about. I think it is just as well I never went to Russia now.
Besides I once worked a Russian day in Toronto. Hundreds of Russians to work to and hardly anyone bought anything. And when they did I got paid with counterfeit money. I couldn't believe the amount of fake bills I gathered.

The Internet instant translation servcies are an excellent resource! Rest assured, all the comments were favourable although they do tend to lose a bit when translated back in to Engish!

I suppose we are now going to have to suffer jokes about the Russian Shuffle (spring) and "one card rushin' after the other............................
Anyway, I have now had the remarks translated and I agree with the sentiments entirely.
