I was just curious who does what and thought a little poll could give us some more insight.... [/b]

ok i mostly do it for family and friends... not really set routines just whatever i can think of at any given time/whatever i have available, wether it be cards, coin gimmicks etc

Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music. - Kristian Wilson, Nintendo, Inc, 1989..

at the moment, i only use my magic with friends and family, i also use it as a good way to introduce myself to new people, they are amazed wiht your skills that is pretty cool. i hope one day to be skilled enough to make money from it and have it as my sole income,

you can always dream

Believe it or not, I dod a live Elton John tribute, then when I come off stage (minus the wig / glasses etc) I normally sit down with memebers of the audience and do some close up stuff and as I llok completely different, it's a good way of finding out what they thought of the show!

I don't quite fit into any of the categories up there, I do a few paid closeup gigs, but in between just do it for fun on nights out etc, so I'm somewhere between thew second and third category!

I would place myself in the same category as nickj, if any.

It started as a curiosity, then a hobby. Now, I mainly perform functions on demand. I don't market myself as a magician (I'm actually a graphic/web designer by day) and yet I get some good 'pocket money' gigs via word of mouth.

I think once this gets under your skin, it's hard to stop. I've always got some half-dollars and a deck of cards with me, and in my (rare) spare time away from my Apple Mac I've got my nose buried in magic books.

I also enjoy creating illusions and tricks, and I'm just setting up a website on history, technique and my own tricks. It will not be a commercial site, something just for fun, but with a restricted 'magician only' access to the main areas. If anyone's interested in contributing, drop me an email.

 magicdiscoservices

semi pro for me then, my care work pays the bills barely.
kids and adult shows give me a social life, i hope to start living off of it in the next two to three years.
as i provide magic and disco services i have a broad spectrum of ages i can cover a good stratergy if your small business is to grow.
gigs vary form house parties to army days, some table hopping at pubs and hotels, some free gigs at old folks homes and special needs places.
anything to get my name out there and in the running with everyone else.

can i get into the magicians only section now please
