Fixing a ring flight reel.

Postby sammy_789 » Feb 18th, '12, 12:30

:D Hi there me again

Iv resently found my old ring flight
i stopped using it as the reel broke ages ago and never bothered to fix it

iv just opened it up and i havent got a clue what i should do; the reel doesnt retract anymore, looking at the insides of this what is it that makes it retract? im normally good with how things work, and fixing but this is mind boggling me.

Thanks
Sam

Hey Sam,

There's several different types of reel, and - in fairness - whilst yours may be repairable, the chances of anyone aside from the manufacturer being able to give you any useful advice are slim, I'm afraid :(

Why not post a picture of it (the insides only to avoid exposure)? Then people may find it easier to help. :)

Why not take a look at a ring flight revolution by Dave Bonsall.

A fantastic piece of kit and more importantly, it doesn't scream PROP! Many pros are using these and some non pros too. :D

You are supplied with repair kit and also in depth tutoring on how to replace the thread should it snap. (mine hasn't after lots of use)

Do a search on here and there will be many reviews.

Alec

Or - for a cheaper option, with nothing to break or jam, perhaps consider Einhorn's Pro-Flite (you can usually pick these up, second hand, for a good price  ) - sutra413595.php
