Magnetic Poker Chips

Postby Tomo » Feb 28th, '12, 11:36

Does anyone have a supplier for magnetic poker chips? They need to be strong. They're for a gaff I'm making.

Unfortunately, I need at least 9. What are they like for strength?

http://www.cards4magic.co.uk do them, 6 for £4.00 - just put shimmed poker chips into their search function.

Don't have 9 unfortunatley.

I'm not a poker player. I've just been told that some poker chips are steel shimmed. Is that right? I can work around the problem like that.

I wouldn't know in detail to be fair.
But the ones I got from Generic Vegas Souveniers certainly feel like they're made entirely of metal

I'm certainly learning a lot about poker chips today.

It seems that some have metal shims for weight. I can certainly think of a good use for a Loki with them

Phone calls. I need to make phone calls...

Interesting stuff.

I've been talking with a poker shop this afternoon and they're sending me some samples.

Proper casino chips are clay with a steel core, the steel core is not added for strength but so they can vary the weight from casino to casino to make counterfeiting harder. Every time they order new chips, they can keep their design but change the weight keeping the brand the same etc.

It's in the poker protection DVD if you want to know more.
