The only good trick I have ever seen with a phone is when you inflate a balloon and push the phone into it. I believe it will work with an iphone just as easily as an ordinary phone.

The best one I've ever used is called Magic SMS, it's so good, especially when performing for people who owns an iphone themself.

Have they invented a iphone magic app that doesn't scream "the phone is doing it, not the so called magician!!!" yet?

Magic SMS does that, and it's the reason I like it so much. If I remember correctly Derren Brown made a remark about how good it is...

There is a great app that put a prediction as the last photo in the album.

Once you have unlocked the phone (which you do in front of the spec) you give them the phone and let them open album etc. It is basically a multiple out but it does work really nicely (but so it should for about £5) :D

Magic SMS is brilliant. I find iPhone magic apps to be very obvious, but this one takes a great magical technique and updates it in a properly mystifying way. Highly recommended. Premonition from E! is pretty good too.

I can vouch for how effective iLogo is for an iPhone 4, especially a borrowed one. It is very visual, and gets some great reactions, as well as some incredulous responses: "yeah, but you just moved my logo", as if THAT'S an explanation....

iCalc by Sean Goodman, as performed by ever popular Dynamo, is a great effect, in which you borrow someone's iPhone (this could be an old 3, or even an iPod touch...) ask them to think some random numbers, or to try to project as a mentalist and ask them to think of a number connected with [insert concept here]... add and multiply and do various mathematical gymnastics, and then, whether if you had written down a prediction on a business card / post it note and kept that out of view till the climax, only for them to ring the sum of their numbers it miraculously ends up being your number. I personally don't perform this as I feel like some cheesy pick up artist, but have seen it performed by others and note its strengths.

Nothing new with that though, used this in my last show and I've never seen iCalc

It is essentially a prediction calculator routine, but borrowed. Plus for hobbyists like myself with bulging pockets (I am weaning myself onto just carrying one deck these days in preparation for summer magic where you would otherwise look out of place wearing a blazer at the peak of summer, but that's just me being self-conscious), it's nice not to lug a calculator around.

It's a simple solution that admittedly makes you feel somewhat conned when purchasing the pdf.

I do agree, however, that iphone magic apps from a spectator's point of view are simply perceived as cool apps. iPad magic looks even more horrific, which I saw at a magic open mic night. You can perform flourishes with an iPad, and a spinning iPad could well prove costly. Perhaps in the future an industrial strength IT thread could be used to recreate the Hummer Card with iPads.

A magi friend has the rising card app that you shake for the reveal. It is very clever, and I suppose is the app equivalent of "hidden in plain sight". With all the cliches of magic blurb advocating that their effect is James Bond-esque, however, I avidly await the day a high tech app involves the PK control of a spectator's arm like a robot, similar to where Mr Bond controls his Aston Martin with his phone. Bond films are overrated though.
