using magic to explain stats and probability

Postby Discombobulator » Mar 27th, '12, 12:12

Very readable academic paper on teaching statistics and probability (A lev/university) by using magic tricks.
(no reveals, but does use some props familiar to most magicians [e.g. mental epic, ID, fake coins, etc])

What a splendid approach. Stats and prob are deathly dull.

Oh I hate when people use magic for educational purposes. Really is a pet peeve of mine. It makes it looks like we have some kind of potential to add something of postitive value to the world at large. It is a slippery slope, a slippery slope I'm tellin' ya. What is next? the masses will want us to get off our butts and entertain with it too? How about come up with inventions like the movie camera? Where will it end? Please somebody sign a bloody petition to stop this!
