Some thing a little darker

Postby Styles13 » Mar 27th, '12, 16:08

Hey all..

I've been playing around with tricks like "chain IN neck" and can really use this in a style I can see myself being most comfortable in.

I really want more information on tricks and routines using razor blades, knives, needles and fire.. plus anything else that's a bit grim/dark.

Can anybody suggest any sources?

Thanks!

The book 'Swami Mantra' by Sam Dalal features these kind of effects, though it is expensive. I think it is now out of print so you would probably have to get a second hand copy.

If you want something cheaper and still available you could try 'Thrilling Magic' by L Miller or 'Stranger Than Fiction' by D Lever. You can find these at Magic Books by Post http://www.magicbooksbypost.co.uk/ just type the titles or authors surname into the search function.

These are the sort of effects performed by Indian Fakirs (some people call it 'Geek Magic') and I should warm you, some of these stunts can be dangerous for real!

Any effect performed properly can be dark and grim. On a positive note, most effects that bizarrists use are simple. Why because we spend the majority of our time creating the story..the magic if you will. A complicated method just gets in the way.

Unless you are TA waters and you have a small monkey that you have to dress up...other than that...

Swami and Mantra are available from lybrary.com as PDFs. They have been criticized before for some of the methods being impractical, but a good starting point for ideas.
