It astonishes me how long it took someone to realise half a million had disappeared from their bank account!

Yes of course. But I bet you have done some wickedness in your life of some kind. How wicked you don't have to tell us. It may or may not have been in Hank's league but wicked nevertheless. On that basis verily I say unto ye in my capacity as a holy psychic reverend, he who is without sin should cast the first stone. Yes. I know I stole the line but the originator is somewhat dead at the moment and won't mind a bit. Besides I do remember he said something about forgiving seventy times seven which I do think overstating things a trifle although I appreciate the sentiment.

All threads about this at the green place have been magically vanishing into the ether with the only trace left behind being an echo of their existence on a google search results page.

Now that doesn't surprise me! Rule of thumb here on TM is that it it's factual and stays reasonable, the thread will carry on.

He's still posting product demos on Facebook, but what's really odd is the attitude of some comments in his timeline, along the lines of it being a terrible tragedy and that hopefully the worst is over. WTF? The guy admits he stole half a million bucks from a customer! That's not a simple life event like a health scare. It's a serious crime for which he'll probably do time.

I feel more sorry for employees and associates who will probably lose their jobs over this, not their fault but suffering all the same. Actually,it's just occurred to me that being found out over finacial wrong doings but then expecting to swiftly put things behind them and carry on sounds very much like the activities of our MPs who ramped up and fiddled their expenses. Guilty but still having the brass nerve to expect minimal repercussions....

Indeed. Maybe the naive expectation is that because he's admitted it he should be let off. What kind of deterrent would that be?

But still, admitting it and apologizing for it is much more than most people (and MP) are ready to do. At least he didn't blame it on someone or something else

But if one is caught red-handed, what else could he do? The thing about a lot of MPs is that their claims were within the technical scope of the rules (albeit as they were interpreted by the people in charge of the funds, rather than under any normal interpretation of what expenses are). They did what so many others were doing and were given the money for it with no questions asked. There were a few, however, that went beyond that and there have been criminal cases as a result. I would treat their apologies in the same way as Hank Lee's one. "Sorry, now that you have caught me."

I agree with Mandrake. People might lose their jobs over this; this might hit them harder than the guy who had his credit stolen (as apparently it took him quite some time to notice a missing $500,000). I am not suggesting he deserved it, of course, merely that he presumably still has his livelihood (and one must assume a healthy bank balance).

I wonder what sort of turnover that credit card has to make $500,000 easily overlooked :D ? Makes my credit card turnover look very small fry in comparison!

You should have your bloody feet hacked off. I would forgive anyone immediately who would commit this dastardly crime.

Which crime? Hank Lee's? Or the crime of someone hacking my feet off?
