Just bought Creating Hybrid Image Illusions in GIMP from Tomo yesterday and today I tought I could try making my first hybrid image illusion.

Here it is:



If you guys don't know what hybrid image illusions are, they are images that show something if you are close to them and if you take a few steps back you see something else.

For example in my hybrid image you can clearly read my name: Marian if you are close to the screen and if you take a few steps back from the screen you will read a different word.

This can be used for mentalism type effects.

I can see Marian, and I can see some dark areas that don't match with it, but I can't make out a second word, it still says Marian for me, even from the other side of the room.

It's probably just me though. I can't do Magic Eye pictures either, so maybe my visual brain doesn't work like what it oughtta.

Probably! I only have to make about 5-6 steps back and it's transforming into another word.

I cant see anything has it been removed?

There are some really nice things that you can do with hybrid images, you might also want to take a look at Kenton Knepper's Signs of Influence for more ideas of wat can be done.

Lady of Mistery do you have any tips for my for how to make the images better? Like Tomo has this one?



In my image if you look better you can see the letters from the second word very clear...and the letters of the first word are not that clear like in Tomo's example.

Any Tips?
