Magic shops in Glasgow?

Postby MiKo » Apr 19th, '12, 07:05

Today I'll fly to Glasgow to see Derren Brown's Svengali. I'd like to make this short trip as magic as possible. Is there any magic shop there I should visit?

Yes - visit Tam Shepherd's. I can't think of a time I've been in that Roy Walton wasn't there, but he is usually in the back.

If you wanted to talk to him, it's probably worth asking if he's there.

Things must have changed over the years. I didn't even know there was a "back". I never remember a single time that Roy was not there when I visited. In fact he was the only staff member in the shop. That shop must be one of the oldest in Britain. It has been there for decades. Even in the UK people don't realise it is a branch of Davenports.

He is a very nice chap. He is always happy to demo and give advice.

Back as in the back shop - behind the scenes - not at the counter. It's still the same shop layout it's been for years.

Thanks everybody for the answers! I hadn't my computer with me, so I could not answer early, but I read the post and visited Tam Shephard's (quite briefly, for the sake of my bank account). I must say that visiting an actual shop is so more fascinating than buying online...

Craigie, sorry but I spent only haf a day in Glasgow. Enjoy the show, tonight. Maybe next time. I really would have liked meeting someone from the forum...
