Double Lifts

Just a question about the DL again. OK, once you have made the DL you must leave the two cards with about 1cm gap over the rest of the pack so you can easily pick them up to return them face-down again. The question is do you leave the cards overlapping towards you (which I find easier), or towards the spectators (which seems to look better, it is how Oz Pearlman does it in his DVD but this seems alot harder to pick up).

Also I am still having a bit of trouble keeping the cards 'flush' once they have flipped over, are there any tips there on fingers positions?

Any help would be much appriciated. Thanks :)

I always have the gap against myself, which I believe most of the ppl do. Now, you can also avoid the gap, but just putting the cards a little bit to the right on top of the deck. Then you don't need the gap, and you can get the double, with no problem at all, just by lifting the top (2) card(s) off, easily. But again, there are LOTS of DL versions around... There is a reason why there are dvds that only focus on DLs

There is loads of stuff on the DL if you use the search function at the top you'll find loads of stuff.

Demitri mentioned checking out "Gregory Wilson's Double Take - it will teach you 25+ doubles and some effects using them" in one of his posts regarding the DL, very worth while looking into getting.

Insight,

You do not have to create any sort of gap at all. There is nothing difficult about a DL. The search facility will find a previously posted vid of mine.

Hold the deck in the usual grip with the index finger at the bottom corner. Put your index finger of the other hand between the third and last fingers and peel off one card with the pad of your index finger. Pull the card upwards and gently flip it over face up on the top of the deck.

No holding it, no pinching the edge of the card, no gaps, no preparation, no pinkie break. Now if you can do it with one card ? ! ? ! ?

I generally have it towards the speccy. The reason for this is that you can then catch the break with no 'squaring moves' - just a bubble DL taught by Greg Wilson in Pyrotechnic Pasteboards.

I have a gap, i never bring anything to close to its surroundings becuase it looks like your hiding somthing, as long as they dont see the 2 cards then its really dosent matter as long as its smooth and naturall

I learnt from Daryl's DVD.. so as I push the cards back flush ontop of the deck with my finger I lift them slightly so I can get a PB, then you're ready to DL again.

Seems to work fine for me.
