Zombie Ball experts?

Postby Lawrence » May 16th, '12, 12:59

Anyone out there fancy themself a Zombie Ball expert? If so can you drop me a line. I have something I've been working on zombie wise but it's not all coming together as hoped.

And yes, for those that know me; it is the obvious thing you're thinking

How do they react when you start performing with their balls?

What do you wish to know about Karsons invention.
There is much.

Karson didn't "invent it" he was just drying off the toilet float at work one day and had an epiphany

I'd look up Dale Salwack or even ask Norm Nielson if there's anyone he could recommend when it comes to competent zombie work; they are rare. The better trained tend to be guys that would be well into their 60s now days, who participated in the old Chavez School of Magic. I know Bill Malone had some limited contact around some of these people during his youth, so he might be a good person to tap on the shoulder as is Jeff McBride. . . Jerome Murat is probably one of the better known Zombie master presently. . .

knowing your specific requirement, having discussed it in p.m, I have just had a thought.
You should look at the work of Raymond Crowe,
His Naked Zombie, being a method of handling the ball, without the gimmick.

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

Crowe is fine,if you're willing to be another Marcel Marceau.

Not everyone's arm is the same lenght. I propose you make your own gimmick. Black shoe laces-prefebly in cotton and metal coat hanger. Natural cork, paint it with a black sharpie. Bend the gimmick to form a bow from the center line and when you bend your finger and wrist inward, the cork part should rest into the crotch of the bend of the arm. Check for ballance. Sorry to say, however try not to adapt the D.L. method unless you're asking for a misshap on the floor, zombie was not intended for such. The wheight is from the top pushing down not the front going foreward. Furthermore his method is very limited to the many float applications, appearences and dissapearences. Unfortunately some people establish a name on the market and expect others to emulate them, that's a bunch of bs.

Have fun with it.

I'm not really sure how much that differs from CJ like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6iC3b5JnSIE" target="_blank
Or this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvz0xIYc ... ata_player
especially since modern CJ is very much illusion based.

Edited to add second link which is one of my favourite single ball CJ routines. I can only wish for isolation skills that good!

The CJ element is pretty much what my act is now (might post a video later, the one that used to host it is gone now); though the ring part is very very nice and I will be having a play about with this myself.
My act, as it is, is juggling, then contact juggling, then I want to add a little zombie on the end...

or, should I not? opinions?

Personally I'd leave the zombie out because your public may well then think "gimmick" which devalues the artistry of cj in my opinion. Having spent so many hours on getting the cj skills it seems a shame to under cut them.
