The Doomsday Gathering 2012

Postby Tomo » May 21st, '12, 10:08

What a splendid, packed weekend. Again. 2.5 days of performance, workshops, ideas, dealer demos/talks and booze.

Seriously, if you're in bizarre magic, you should make the pilgrimage next year. It's at Sneaton Castle, Whitby on the weekend of 10th May 2013.The Gathering is dirt cheap, as is accommodation at the castle (food is included). If you're driving, it's easy to get to (M1/A170/A171); if you're coming in on the train, it's very scenic, and if you're flying in it's even easier. You can even go nun spotting at lunchtime...

Seconded! Just on my way back now, and still wrapping my head around everything that happened...

The new website will be up soon (I will post the link here); if anyone would like some information before then, please PM me!

I think a lot of people have already booked their rooms for next year. Here's a picture of my lovely old Jaccobean hotel, Ruswarp (pronounced "Russup") Hall. A splendid place to stay.

Oh, I know; both rooms and tickets go very quickly. At the same time, we're always looking for new blood... ;)

It was superb. I'm so glad I went. It had a wonderful atmosphere, so friendly. Low on egos, incredible ideas shared. And a good few drinks :)

Please note you've got some competition from Jobasha in the 'looking good in heels' department... ;)

I will of course be there next year. I had the best time ever this weekend. Those of you who are friends with me on FB will know that the voodoo dance has changed my life. It was one of the 12 greatest things my eyes have ever witnessed in all my 48 years. It was brilliant on so many levels.

Those of you who missed the voodoo dance missed out on a life changing experience.

I also got disgracefully drunk on both Friday and Saturday night. :D

At one point, I thought the Voodoo dance would break into Kings of the Wild Frontier by Adam and the Ants!

I seem to remember playing peek-a-boo with Small Boy.

I'd like to say it was the first time, but that would be a blatant lie. As for the voodoo dance I was so mesmerised by the dance I completely missed that a trick had happened behind the dancer. Ultimate misdirection.
