How many of you think that Sherlock Holmes would be an amazing mentalist/cold reader?
What if you had his powers of observation? :)

P.S. - For those of you who think that S.H. is just a fictional character, google "Joseph Bell". He was the real Sherlock Holmes.

If Sherlock Holmes was a mentalist then he'd take a far more long winded route to solve his crimes, carry around a suitcase full of envelopes and bang on about NLP.

  Naughty Freddie! You will upset some people

I can recommend the film "Without a Clue", where it's Watson who solves the crimes using a bogus Holmes as front-man. Catchy theme tune, too (about three minutes in):

I love this idea of performing Sherlock Holmes themed routines. I actually ordered the book that has been mentioned before signing up for this forum. I'm working through it now and I'm pleased so far, plus for the price, why not.

I'm a fan of the stories and did work through several of the books when at school. I've now got thoughts of putting together my own Holmes themed routine however I feel that with my fresh faced early twenties looks, I won't play a good Holmes. I might have to put it on the back burner for another ten or twenty years. Hmm

Estimates of Holmes's Birthdate based on the stories put it somewhere between 1854 and 1861 and the first story when he is introduced to Watson, 'A Study in Scarlet', is set in 1881, so he certainly was fresh faced and in his twenties in that. Well as fresh faced as an opium smoking recluse could be....

Quite, and Watson is a recent returnee from the Afghan wars and similarly youthful. Blame the films for the misconception of their age.

I suppose you're right. I guess I too have been caught up in the whole image which has been portraying Holmes as this middle aged gentlemen puffing his pipe. I guess the next hurdle to clear would be making myself look like a opium addicted shut in.

But bear in mind that most young men tried to look older and, hopefully, more mature so what we consider these days to be an aged appearance might just be due to the way they acted, dressed and presented themselves.

Have you already watched "Elementary" preview?

I don't think that series will be good at all...

Saw the trailer and imediately thought 'Let's imagineer a new Sherlock Holmes that's different, so we'll have a Lady for Watson and an ethnic one and we'll set it in America because that's cheaper and we'll ignore any of the stories and just have a smart *rse detective.'

Perhaps they'll put a character who's a white rapper bad guy called Prof Mo.

Both quite absurd.

It will be a female rapper called Mariah T.

She'll be "all up in the grill" of Jane Watson, the doctor who's squeamish around corpses. Catfights, b!tch-slapping each other, yo, all that shhhh.

Perhaps I am merely projecting my displeasure at that awful trailer, but to my mind, Johnny Lee Miller is clearly thinking, "This is rubbish, she's rubbish, I'm rubbish; Benedict will be laughing his head off."
