Basically, the protocol had an exploitable vulnerability. http://www.wired.com/table_of_malconten ... randis_mi/

Has it been done again again? Got a link?

I think they should have persisted in their claim to the million dollars. I would love to see how Randi would have wiggled out of not paying up. And he WOULD have wiggled out. Common sense. Naturally he is not going to pay out even if you produced a ton of ectoplasm from his left ear. That is why the so-called "challenge" is a complete sham. He wouldn't pay out even if someone won. In fact I knew someone who DID win. A psychic named Earl Curley now passed into the spirit world. He always used to complain that Randi never paid up. Of course I would have known that from the very start which proves that I am more psychic than Earl ever was.

He has wiggled out more times than most want to believe. .. then the rules get changed.

The man is a shyster, he's pulled the biggest of all con jobs in world history by playing the magic community like a violin. . . gotta give him kudos on that one.

Randi is a rather unscrupulous character at best. I'd be mightly suprised if he were to ever hand over the stated sum, regardless of the if the test was ever passed or not.

Of course Randi is quite unscrupulous. I think that is why I like him.

He has always been one of my favourites. But then he gave me a pewter pin with a flying pig on it which I love. Bribes do go along way with me.

I bumped into him at a train station just after I had returned from a psychic fair. Crusty old curmudgeon and I liked him immediately. I told him that I was a psychic and he brightened considerably and suddenly showed interest in talking to me. He had a twinkle in his eye and said in a low conspiratorial voice, "Ssshh! We cannot be seen together!"

LOL.
Mark, is there anything in print/online about the Earl Curley and Randi event?
Best wishes,
Paul.
