when I perform this trick i like to make sure people hear the coins drop into the pocket which sells the jump of the coin.

Just to finish the story since some of you may have been interested:

I sent the coin back and just got a cheque in the post for a refund.

The new 2p shell from the hopping halves set is much much better. For the sake of my own reference, I took a photo of the other shell before I returned it, so if anyone wants to see how bad it was I'll post it up here.
