Paper Rose to Real Rose Effect

Postby Aza » Jun 15th, '12, 19:07

Hi all,

Newbie here....i am currently trying to devise a way of creating an origami rose (possibly using f**sh paper - not sure if i can type the full thing here?) then lighting it on fire and voila production of a full stemmed red rose.

I understand the principals behind certain presentations but it seems that they produce the rose head without stem - which is obiously p**med....i wanted to take that one step further, does anybody have any ideas of reference books/etc. of a way i could achieve this effect?

Thanks

Aza :D

N.B Sorry if i have revealed too much in this post mods, could somebody edit it if it reveals too much about the effects?

Gift magic has a nice full-stem fewer production but it's a little angle-y. Additionally you'd have to get it in position after the folding of the paper rose. If you folded the rose out of flash aper ( which is expensive to use up in big sheets ) then the light it produces could probably act as a big enough distraction to just pull a rose out of your jacket.

Depending on your paper rose folding method this strikes me as a specific scenario which you might be able to create your own method for. The paper rose folds I know involve the rolling of a stem. The though occurs that with experimentation you could probably figure out a way to roll the paper stem around the real stem, with the pare rise head at the top and the real rose at the bottom, concealed in your hand or below the table if seated. Then a twirl or a flip stick move swaps the two ends an you pull the paper rose away by the head with a flourish out of the frame while offering the real rose forward.

Oooh!

Stacy, you may have just saved me many hours of brain ache, i like the wrapping of the stem with flash paper!!

Methinks the ladies i present this to will be sufficiently wowed!

I plan to give the rose away with each performance so i know it will be costly, but it's the same as giving out a business card and after all we all do this for the simple reason of causing the spectator to feel that moment of 'magic'!! so personally i can afford a few quid, if it's something they'll take away and keep and tell all their friends about the time this bloke made her a paper rose, set it on fire and then wow a real rose appeared, which they obviously kept!!

Great for conversation between friends and helps cement me in somebodies memories forever eh?!!

Much love

I'd strongly encourage you to get the Kevin James video on the Floating Rose and learn it based on his original handling; he outlines the making of the rose, the switch/production, etc.
