Trip to London

Postby CardMaker » Jul 7th, '12, 17:39

Hello my fellow magicians!

We come over to London from Monday 29th of October to Thursday 1st of November for a sight-seeing trip.
Arrival at London-Stansted.

Any recommendations for a low-priced hotel or a bed&breakfast close to the center of London?
We spend 3 nights and need one room for 2 adults and our "teen girl" in an extra bed.

Any advice - eventually OFFERS and/or links - would be highly appreciated!

Thank you all in advance,

CardMaker / Bernd

Hi there Bernd. Just make a note that when you arrive at London Stanstead, the Airport is in fact about 40 miles to the center of London, so you will have to arrange a train journey from the airport to get to London.... Anyway this is a not too- expensive hotel you and your family can stay while your in London and the rooms are nice with WiFi connections.. your best advice would be to book early to avoid disappointment... http://www.premierinn.com/en/why/contact_us.html" You will find a few of these hotels all over London. Bernd, We have usually stayed at
THE REGENT PALACE HOTEL, in Piccadilly Circus,
a 2 star hotel.
Not been for 10 years but friends stayed 2 years ago and were happy there.
It was build in 1914 but totally re furbished in 1999.
The beauty of the Regent Palace is--it is LESS than 2 minutes walk from the Eros statue in Piccadilly Circus. Smack in the middle of London.
Regent Street (Hamleys Toy Shop) & Shaftsbury Avenue (all the West End Theatres) just off Piccadilly Circus. Leicester Square 5 minutes away and the Strand(Davenports Magic Shop) about 15 minutes away
They have a shop & restaurant.
SCROLL DOWN past the first lot
I do not think the photos pasted below But go on Google & type in ' Regent Palace Hotel, London & you will see a number of photos.

There is a little hotel called 'The Wansbeck Hotel' Bedford Place, right by Russell Square Gardens and RSq Underground.

It is 2 minutes walk from the British Museum on Great Russell Street And 5 minutes from Tottenham Court Road, & Charing Cross Road (2nd hand books)

We stayed there years.
My wife always swore that I had picked it because it was by Davneports( then on Gt Russell St), Alan Alan's Magic Spot just round the corner and Corinda's shop on Tottenham C rd.
It was pure coincidence as I picked it before we were married because then--it was run by a couple from Nottingham.

Oh do not forget to visit International Magic Shop when you are in London.
Marvin's Magic used to have,& may still have a counter in Hamley's Toy Shop,-Once they had a huge magic floor with a 40 page catalogue-before my time
