Dai Vernon's 'Triumph' and Stars of Magic

Postby cc100 » Jul 12th, '12, 10:57

Just a quick question about the card trick called Triumph. I know there are various 'tutorials' on youtube but I want to learn the trick properly through a book or DVD. I know the trick is described in 'Stars of Magic', but I've been told that the book also contains coin and other close-up magic so I was wondering whether the book is worth getting just for this trick. In other words, I'm just focusing on card magic at the minute so some of it might not be relevant for me at the moment. Is it taught in any other books or DVDs?

Thanks,

This lists the book's contents (sounds like a reasonable price to me, and plenty of card stuff): http://www.world-of-magic.co.uk/Stars_O ... i22845.asp

Triumph is taught all over the place. Oz Pearlman even released a DVD just on this trick, with lots of variations. It's a bit cheaper than the book, but I think Stars of Magic sounds like a better buy.

I'd say that to buy Stars of Magic just for the triumph, it's not worth it, but I would say to buy Stars of Magic just because it's a nice collection of some famous magicians work.To be honest, although Vernon's Triumph is still very good, it seems that everyone has their own version, I know I do so you could probably find some good ones out there that aren't his. Again, it's a whole book for just the one effect but Solomon's Mind, by Eugene Burger has a very nice simple triumph in it. It doesn't require a cut either to reverse it which I like a lot.

As for the Stars of Magic book, you might just like it for a collectible, take a look at the content and weigh it up. There are also Stars of Magic dvd's too but I don't really know anything about those, just that they exist.
