I understand how the trick works. My problem is getting the coin into the device/frame smoothly and snapping the 4 boxes together without making a clink/shut sound. Any tips?

Plenty of practice, and more practice. And a bit of patience, and one day you will just click with the routine and look back and think to yourself what was all the fuss about!!

The boxes can talk a little bit but if you cover it with clever scripting you should be fine. I have performed Spellbinding Boxes an uncountable number of times and I don't think I've ever been called on a noise being made. If the boxes are louder than your voice when talking I would suggest engaging in some more practice.
