Bank Night/Just Chance strategy

Postby MatCult » Jul 20th, '12, 09:35

Just found this article about 'Game Theory' style solutions to an envelope problem.

Might make an interesting framing for Bank Night type presentations? Especially thinking of those who have corporate clients, who may well have heard the term "Game Theory".

I was reading a lot about the Game Theory last weekend and came up with a few Bank Night style presentations...how funny.

Certainly is something that would work for somebody going along the psychological route...not that there are many of those about ;-)

Interesting stuff. I'm not quite sure anything is 'solved' but reading the comments was the best bit. I wanted to register just so I could say "what does paradox mean"? :)

Slightly off topic but on a similar theme.

You give me £10 and here is £10 of mine. These two £10 notes go in this envelope marked '£20'
You agree this envelope is worth £20. it would be a bargain if someone could buy this envelope off me for say, £19.. no £18...ok £15... oh go on, if you put £12.50 in this hand then I'll let you take the envelope worth £20 from that hand... cos I'm feeling generous tonight.

90% of the time they do take the envelope for the seemingly bargain price of £12.50

Haha, yes, I've done that before.

Cool article..and can be linked to a bank nite or Doug Dyment's Disruption...

Prisoner's Dilemma also offers great mentalism possibilities...

Cheers
