Help please.

Postby EskimoBlue » Jul 31st, '12, 11:41

I saw a demo for a trick/gimmick the other day and I can't for the life of me remember what it was called or where I saw it.

Basically it's a production of a full deck (of cards) from an empty box, but slightly differently.

The trick starts with a blank unfolded/unmade box which then prints itself with the cover of a Bicycle Pack, then the box is folded into shape and viola a full deck is then removed.

Has anyone seen or heard of this?

I'm starting to think I imagined it, I've spent a good few hours searching the net for it but to no avail.

Sudden deck is the one you're thinking of but I've heard the angles aren't great. If you're feeling bold enough for a little switching there's a fab routine in Art of Astonishment (Volume 1 I think) where a card box is introduced folded up and wrapped in an elastic band. The band is taken off, the box unfolded and reconstructed into a box, then the bad is snapped back around it, the top is opened and a deck comes out in pristine condition.

It's a bold move but I've succeeded with it amoungst friends, and then after a suitable time, managed to reverse the switch, fold up the box and put it away again. Double fooled.

Yeah. The angles are not fantastic but it is doable. I wouldn't use it personally but it's not awful.

It would be good to load an I.D in and use the usual patter then producing the deck and showing the card upside down.

There is a Sudden Deck 2 as well but I'm not sure whether there is much difference.

As I understand Sudden Deck 1 starts with a flattened box. Sudden Deck 2 starts with an unprinted flattened box, and the first phase is the box prints itself.

They flashed big time on the Wizard product review when they reviewed it.
