I've never dabbled with thread or coins. I'm looking for some pointers towards some good DVDs to give me some basics and a few fun effects to play with. I own Bobo's book on coins but with limited spare time and attention span, I prefer DVDs.

Anyone got any recommendations?

I don't own this yet, but will be my next purchase, it came highly recommended to me by a coin magician who almost exclusively performs coins.

Ammar Complete intro to Coin Magic.

any of the three metal dvds by eric jones are well within the biginers to intermediate.
ben salinas has a good introduction to bobo's coin magic, pretty much a visual record of the book, basic teaching, easily picked up.
f*ing coins is surprisingly easy to learn from, even if its heavily dubbed, there french, some great sleaving techniques and fun with big and tiny lighters too.
anything by the worlds greatest magic guys, bit dated and not so easy to get hold of, covers the best in the field like darral and such.

coin magic is positivly..... definatly ... not on any sharing sites .... so don't bother too look, nothing to see there just move along, you have been warned.

I quite like David Roths expert coin magic made easy... Just checked it out on penguin there and its only 37 dollars for the 3 dvds so thats only 23 bones in our cash, not bad for 3 volumes + he is a good teacher.

Disclaimer: probably available from all mgic shops but penguin came first in the list

What about thread? Any ideas for DVDs to get the basics down? I own some thread and wax but have no idea what to do with it.

For both thread & coins you can't go wrong with Michael Ammar's Easy to Master series.

I agree with the Michael Ammar stuff but a fanily friend was in Florida and came back with a present from the magic shop in one of the theme parks. It came with enough IT to make a cow float but better than that the DVD was suprisingly decent for rigging up and doing a few levitations.

Sorry man it was like an IT starter pack. You can have the dvd if you want I don't do much levitations as I have a habbit of taking my jumping off and ruining the setup.
