pay Envelope load and steal

Postby naychandler1 » Aug 7th, '12, 19:12

how can i find or make a convincing card in envelope steal? in other words i ahve a stack of envelopes, spectator puts a card into the top envelope , ( card is secretly loaded into windowed envelope second from top instead) i hand them the top envelope in which apparently holds their card - hahah yay to me i now have their card :-D

im sure that this is a classic move in the world of mentalism and are a bunch of ways of doing it.
io saw derren do this same type of load and steal in one of his live shows!

ive heard of something named the shaxon flap??

any direction would be greatful?

i have scissors and envelopes at hand now !!

Your older books on Mentalism will give you tons of routines using exactly the set-up you mention here. Burling Hull actually put out a book on How to Read Sealed Questions (Hades Publishing) which will give you far more insight than you'll ever need. Then again, I can give you a method for knowing the card or anything put into the envelope without the use of a window card and having to switch things around. . . I'm a lazy Mentalist so I tend to shoot for simple and direct methods.

I'll eMail you the details.

Both the classic texts from the masters, Theo Annemann and Tony Corinda will give you the methods to do what you're asking. There are a number of ways that said feat could be accomplished, which is best for you will probably dependbupon your routine.

The Artful Mentalism of Bob Cassidy covers this under The Three Envelope Test.

Surely you could do a DL and have them sign the back?

All you need to do is make sure the second envelope down already has an indifferent card inside. (Blank face?)

Reminds me of my method for magic square.
If the top envelope has the top part cut off and a window in the back, place their card, word whatever in face down, have them lick the envelope whilst you hold the pack, do the DL and have them sign it, and then just wrist kill whilst getting the peek or what have you.
