Whom to hypnotise

Postby seamagu » Aug 16th, '12, 14:13

Hi,

I am relatively new to magic and have been developing my skills in mentalism, swami, billets, cold reading, mnemonics etc. I have read reality is plastic a few times and think I am ready to try to hypnotise someone.

Does anyone have any good ideas of who to hypnotise apart from family? Have any of you gone up to random people in the street and asked them if they want to be hypnotised :?

Thanks

Sea.

When you are doing close-up for a group of people frame it as a hypnosis trick, then do a suggestibility test on the onlookers. If one of them responds, go for a quick induction and see where that leads you. It might fall flat on its face, but if it does, you end up with the trick you were doing anyway, and the audience will never be the wiser. But if you succeed you will slowly build up your hypnosis skills. That is how I began to train at the impromptu hypnosis. No one knew they were my guinea pigs!

What Tony said... Also do not rise to the 'I bet you couldnt hypnotise me/hi,/her" this means from the off they are already against the idea so are probably not going to be good subjects. Try having a chat with the group and introducing the idea and you wil notice who is taking an interest.

Is it true that the ladies tend to be more amenable to being hypnotised?

If that was the case I wouldn't be writing this while staring at a pile of ironing ...

(Only iron the bits which show!)

I'm sure I've heard our psychic and paranormal performers remark that the ladies are far more likely to join in and enjoy a bit of palm reading, tarot reading etc and are usually seen as more willing to undergo hypnosis. Are we chaps are perhaps a bit too reserved and uncertain to surrender control to another person? Or is it just that the ladies are very good actors..... !

I think your right, its along the same lines of when performing for a couple or a group with the alpha male they either pay no attention at all go on to explain how the trick was done ( no matter how creative and far fetched there theory is). I guess it could be approached in the same way you would do if you had a sucker effect in the same situation.

Instead of making the man feel like he has been fooled in front of his friends like 2 card monte, you can turn this in to a magical card presentation putting the man at ease. In the same way instead of making it look like the man is not in control you could reassure him that your not going to make him look like an idiot and that its going to be an experience he will be able to keep.
