Himber type wallet

Postby BlackJack » Mar 7th, '05, 19:18

Hi, i have just purchased a Z fold Himber type wallet (its a pretty nice one).
But i don't know any cool routines with it... :(.
How do you guys use your himber wallet? Does the whole effect rely on it? or do you just use it at the end, for a secret change?...
Maybe some of you could PM me to give me some ideas, i would really appreciate that ;)

Thanks

bye

Aaron

maybe for a kinda spooky-wooky type effect, you could make an old black and white photo restore its colour....

There's an excellent book by Wayne Dobson called Z6. It's has 6 geat routines for the Z-fold wallet and it's available from Alakazam. I'd recommend it highly.

Himber Wallet

Postby katrielalex » Mar 10th, '05, 14:43

One idea someone had (it's not mine, but not from these boards) was to have a red and a blue joker in one side of the himber, and leave the other. Then do twisted sisters, with patter about hypnosis and that you can make them think that their queen has just switched and flipped over. Then put the queens in the wallet, and switch them for the jokers. It really floors them when they see that the queens they 'thought' they saw were actually jokers.

Just an ...

I used my Z wallet for a torn and restored card routine.

I use a great Mark Leveridge trickwith mine called credit scare. A borrowed credit card disappears from an envelope in spectators hand and appears in the wallet. Great affect!

I have only performed this to close family but this trick was shown to me by the nice man in hamley's which persuaded me to buy the marvins magic executive magic collection two.(good salesman and he chucked in a free book)

I do a torn and restored trick in conjunction with the svengali deck(PM me for help).Im sure you could do it by forcing but im not quite consistent enough to do this yet plus i have two svengali's.

As for the move i suggest using patter to misdirect the audience from the wallet. Also maybe you could find a duplicate wallet for inspection although i think this would be hard to find.

Hope I have helped
Sam

i dont know much about this wallet but correct me if im wrong....can this move done with your eyes closed...if yes then why not put the wallet in your back pocket...then while your pattering away reach back to pull out your wallet and do the move when its behind your back...to the audience it looks like you just got your wallet

Brilliant idea - two svengali decks. Guaranteed to work!

Shrimp - just to help you out with your forces, why not get yourself a copy of the Royal Road to Card Magic? There are some pretty simple and very effective forces detailed in there, and your card skills, knowledge and effects will shoot through the roof!

As for the Z wallet - the old 'in the back pocket' works for me too.

Thanks for the advice the behind the back way works okay, but i would like to be able to do it infront of the spec, when I saw this it was like an instant card change. I think im just going to have to try to find a way to cover the move.

otherwise its just gonna stay in my box of tricks!!

Maybe some good old misdirection is in order then... this link is from another thread: Misdirection. Should be helpful. :D

Whilst it is an instant card change you should think of the item more as a useful tool than as the trick itself. In normal working very little notice should normally be paid to the wallet itself, specs shouldn't really have any idea that it could possibly be responsible for any part of the effect.

I think your right there nickj, I didnt really think of it like that, maybe I should work on a routine where a card is placed in the wallet and then put on the table until later on to perform a switch  Will have to think!

thank you

Since the himber wallet doesn't look anything like an actual modern day wallet I would always prefer an effect that used it as something else. An excellent example is 'Dreams and Devices' by Bob Cassidy which is available on Lybrary.com. In Dreams and Devices there is an effect called checkbook, which utlises, amongst other things, a himber wallet. It's about the best use of a himber wallet that I've seen but then again, the principle is always more important than the effect. Once you see what bob cassidy does with his wallet, you may have your own ideas.
