My name is Aza and i am a recovering CUPS sufferer!

I ended up in Davenports and bought Corinda's 13 Steps, an Omni Deck, a Topit, PK Blista and god know's what else is in my bag of goodies!!

Should keep me busy for the next month or so!

Anything that isn't in the reviews section will get a review within the next few days, one of the things i purchased was a "Ghostly Impression" whereby you reveal the spectators playing card on a small piece of glass, it's a really nice revelation in my opinion and will be road tested in the next few days!

Lightweight! I worked out that I spent neary £3000 pounds on magic in 6 months
I am now banned from buying any magic for a long long time!
I've run out of forks for liquid metal and I'm getting withdrawals...

I used to spend silly amounts of money when i was performing normal magic. I once went in JB magic in Blackpool to buy a packet trick and ended up spending £500 including £189 on a Mikame Coin Castle! Now i only perform my own Bizarre Magick those days are gone!

I seem to have a mutated strain of CUPs which is more specific towards books. In the last few months I have bought Naked mentalism 1,2 and 3, RIP, some Kenton Knepper stuff, impromptu mentalism, paul voodini, 13 steps, lots of cheap $3 books on amazon kindle,

I really, really have to stop reading reviews and browsing magic sites with an instant download facility.

maybe I'll look for something that hasn't been reviewed next and post my own review, I heard you can get rid of CUPs by passing it on to someone else!!!

I make a wish list and keep it on my laptop. I then find that by the time I have added the latest item to the bottom of the list I have had second thoughts about what is at the top of the list. I then usually end up deleting it. I find it takes the 'impulse buy' syndrome away. I also have the list 'named' as the Next convention I am going to, currently, it says 'Portsmouth wish list'. This holds out the hope for my 'Cups' syndrome that I am intending to buy it!

I have that one as well!

Sad news folks, after years of intensive study it's clear that there is absolutely no cure for CUPS. You may be in remission for a while, you may even believe you have it under control and can resist the lure of CUPS but, just when you're feeling very confident, CUPS strikes and suddenly you find all sorts of new stuff in front of you, several delivery guys at the door bringing parcels and Jiffy Bags full of interesting magicky items, and a very heavy envelope from your credit card company.....

Actually, whilst there is no cure I think there is possibility for a mutation where a desire to personalise an act leads the CUPS instinct to turn inwards into larger and larger construction projects for bespoke props.

Since I discovered 3D printing this has bitten me and I have a number of props designed in 3D software, waiting for me to get my own 3D printer unit. As soon as I can prototype them for testing I can move on to getting the genuine articles produced by a place which has metal or ceramic printing tools...

im just hoping that one day i'll snap out of it.

I keep telling myself to choose about 10 effects, script them into 2/3 routines and practice them until they're good enough to turn them into a working set, but then i get distracted by the latest advert and buy something new again.

My problem is that I find my routine lacks some effect to make it into a routine with a nice theme, so I look into what can fill the hole, but then that gives me an idea for an even better routine...

I've weakened, and ended up buying about £100 of DVDs, cards and other stuff. My Amazon recommendations are now ruined after buying handcuffs...

Omg!! Don't get me started on this subject My problem started in 2004 1 purchase a week, 3 purchases a month, plenty of over time at work, now on about £100 month habit.. And so on and so on!!! continued until Jan 2012..., Now my spare room in my house in now full to the rafters!! no joke.. And what happens in April this year?? I decide to open up my own on line shop, now have a garage full to the top, no car inside.. What next?? Anybody what to buy some magic??? Regards Garry..

CUPS is my main procrastination tool to avoid having to actually practice anything! eBay is the worst.

Indeed, I've picked up some real bargains there, but equally I've seen several things that I've half looked at before and decided they weren't quite for me then see at half off RRP and find myself putting in a cheeky bid, only to keep bidding and wind up winning it.

Some of the auctions on there are mad though, I saw a Derren Brown DVD that retails from International at £24, go for £30 plus £3.50 P&P just because two folks got into a bidding war.

That is sad news Mandrake, are you sure? Have you tried hypnotism? Out patient therapy? witch doctors? Somethings got to work, I had my hopes pinned on hypnosis. Im sure if he started saying " you are getting very sleepy" that part would work, because I've been up for two days, not sure if it would help me with my CUPS though.
signing off now, going back to the close up pad for more shells and peas practice...then, hopefully, I will be able to get some much needed sleep. Sorry to bring back up a three month old thread, I couldn't help myself, still searching for the cure lol ........ *Poof* ( I dissappeared again)
